Chief W.A. Emeje Marathon Race
BRIEF HISTORY ON LATE CHIEF W. A. EMEJE.
He was born to the family of Emeje Agagwu and Iyawo Onoja of blessed memories. In the town of Ojofu, Anyigba, in Dekina Local Government, Kogi State.
After his primary Education in the early 1960s, he went further in search of a Greener pasture, that later brought him, into the Nigerian Navy, with special focus on sports, while in the Navy, thus making him an exceptional athlete, in the country's sports industry. Late Chief W. A. Emeje, travelled far and wide to countries like, India, Portugal, Belgium, Hungary and many more.
After his retirement from the Nigerian Navy, in the early '80s, he was appointed as a Senior Chief Technical Sports Administrator, with the then, Benue State Sports Council and later was promoted to be the Assistant Director Sports Technical.
During his tenure within the sports circle in the State, he propelled sports to it's height, working through the Apex sports industry in Nigeria. He had received so many sports laurels, with the national sports commission, as one of their top athletic technical superior,in the country.
Late chief W. A. Emeje, died 19- June- 1984, while doing what he lived to love doing, after a routine morning exercise in Markurdi, the state capital of Benue State. He was blessed with two wives and children, and was buried in Anyigba, his hometown, Kogi State.
